How we calculate the air quality index - United States

BreezoMeter uses a hybrid index that is based on the AirNow’s NowCast and U.S. AQI

We take the average of each pollutant type as described below.

We convert average pollutant concentrations to an AQI for each pollutant.

The final AQI is determined by taking the worst AQI among all pollutants. The worst pollutant being the dominant pollutant.

Index Health Categories

AQI (US) represents air quality levels according to the following health categories:
